The Condemned Movie Review

The Condmned is what it is. It’s an entertaining, action adventure, popcorn flix, in the spirit of Battle Royale. Some would say either you like movies like this or you don’t, but I feel many people, like myself, might not enjoy a steady diet of films like this but from time to time like to shut down and watch some crazy action. If your looking for some over the top action fun, this is a film for you.

This is the first WWE Film I’ve seen and I have to say, it’s well done. The story might not be Shakespeare, but the film is much better then a B movie action adventure film. They put money in it and it shows. It also shows how far the WWE has come from the 80’s film No Holds Barred staring Hulk Hogan. If you missed it, it sucked.

This is the first Stone Cold Steve Austin film in a three film deal with WWE Film. Stone Cold holds his own in this film and one could compare his performance to any early Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone film. He has a great stage presence and will go as far as the quality of his future films let him.

In The Condmned Stone Cold plays Jack Conrad, a death-row prisoner in a corrupt Central American prison who is purchased by a wealthy television producer to take part in a fight on a live online reality game show. Conrad is dropped off on a island and forced to fight to the death with nine other killers from all over the world. Millions of viewer watch as these killers fight each other knowing only the last man standing will earn a chance at freedom.

The film’s co-stars are Vinnie Jones (LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) and Rick Hoffman (HOSTEL). Vinnie Jones plays the top tuff guy and he’s good at it. Rick Hoffman gives a great performance as a sympathetic character that has trouble with the ethics of his bosses show. Both are great additions to the film.

If your a fan of Stone Cold, or looking for an adrenalin-charged action thriller this is a movie for you. If your looking for something more, then I doubt you were considering The Condemned anyway, so go see In the Land of Women again.
